My personal mission to stamp out the ‘colorless lip’
So the trend of a colorless lip, is AWFUL!
Seriously ladies and gentlemen, AWFUL!
This non-makeup look is also known as the n*de lip but if I use the correct phrase then the computer gods’ algorithm dings me into an adult blog. To be truthful, anyone who would stumble upon me based on that search criteria would be sorely disappointed. Although I find the n*ked lip to be just as offensive as anything that one could find at Wanda’s Sm*t Hut!
Maybe it is because I am born and bred southern? Here we don’t like beige. Nor ecru. Nor khaki (unless it’s for a funeral or second wedding or somethin like that where gentlemen wear them (NO pleats, please!) with their navy blazer and a nice button down). No little girl goes into Wal-greens with her Mama and begs for her first tube of lipstick to be Maybelline N*de L*st! No, we want Loreal Intense Pigment Lipstick in La Rouge Avant-Garde! Later when we’ve graduated with our degrees (whatever that looks like for you), we off to Sephora to purchase Dior 999, the original Dior red and a color that looks beautiful on ALL OF US! If you haven’t purchased this shade, gentle readers, save your pennies and do so. People who do NOT know what they are talking about will tell you that there is some dupe or other, do not listen. They sit on a throne of LIES!
But here’s the kicker, women with nude lips for their WEDDING DAY! Oh my GOSH! It’s you wedding! Put some color on those lips! You don’t want to look back and have people giving each other the side eye when they your $5000 in photos, silently judging you for wearing LIP GLOSS instead of Chanel Rouge COCO Dimitri! Might as well just slap some Blistex on there before you walk down the aisle. Just imagine you on one of the most important days of your life, looking like a sickly Victorian child!
Just buy you two tubes of flattering lipstick, a power red and a darkish pink. Here’s a list of a few I like:
