Bad Boys, Bad Boys! Whatcha Gonna Do?
Fall In Love With Them!
Beloveds, its true! Otherwise the whole bad boy trope wouldn’t even exist!
Alright, everyone got their moisturizer and serum or caffeine mask on? This is a sacred space where we love ourselves. Respect the space.

Feeling comfy? Let’s get to it, Beautiful!
I thought today we might open the cover a crack and take a tiny peek at the hero of my novella, Gryph. His short range goal, his motivation and maybe his main character flaw.
First, I wrote Gryph in such a way that it gives me tingles. I hope he will effect you the same way! Is he hot? Indeed he is in a cool, Nordic way. He’s chiseled, cheekbones and abs. But not just that. As we all know, it takes more than looks to make a person attractive. He’s smart, witty is actually a better description. He’s funny and dry. You’ll see for yourself in the novella. He’s self assured and a quite cocky (I hate this word, but it is the perfect descriptor). I like him because he has his act more or less together. We came for the looks, we’re falling in love with the character of the person!
But what makes him a ‘bad boy’? His past? The leather pants? Maybe it’s just the whole attitude? Or is it the lure of being in danger when you are with him? Not only from other things that go bump in the night but Gryph himself!
Let’s talk about short range goals. What does he immediately want? He honestly just wants our heroine’s attention. It’s not a great and complicated goal, but short term goals are not generally. It’s the long term goals that get sticky.
So why is he interested in this? What’s the motivation? Perhaps he doesn’t want our heroine to think he’s a monster. She believes all vampires are evil and need to be eliminated. Perhaps his motivation is to break free of that stereotype. He doesn’t want to be seen as manipulative or predatory. Although he could easily be both.
Here’s the bonus: What about a character flaw? I think he needs to take risks. As a vampire he is inherently NOT afraid of death. Perhaps he needs to take risks to feel alive?
OR maybe none of this is true and I’m just gaslighting you! You buy the novella and judge for yourself! After you read it come back and give me the low down in comments about what you think it is!
Until next time, Gentle Reader!
Yours, Staci
